
Mehdi Hosseini Profile
Mehdi Hosseini was born in Kashan in 1943 and relocated to Tehran with his family at a young age. After completing his studies at Tehran High School of Fine Arts, he moved to the USA and studied painting and printmaking. Hosseini received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago in 1968. Later, he joined the master’s program at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, and graduated in 1970. After returning to Iran, he joined the Art University (Farabi University) and retired as a professor in 2010.
Hosseini is a painter and draftsman. His works are two dimensional and minimalistic and have a specific color palette. The colors used by the artist include blue, gray, and pea shades, which are influenced by the personality of Hosseini and the Miniatures of the Timurid school, especially the Baysunghur Shahnameh.
